Inside Out

Sculpture Installation: Inside Out

The sculpture installation titled “Inside Out,” created by the artist in 2002 at No Name gallery, Soap Factory, Minneapolis, USA. Participating in the Pre Season exhibition curated by artist Jean Humke, the artist recreated all the surfaces of his earlier Protool-sculpture from 1999. The artwork was painted with house paint, featuring “Outsides” in blue colors and “Insides” in red-orange hues. The installation presented two distinct methods of joining the pieces: resembling the original “Protool” with narrow openings between the planes, allowing viewers to peer into the sculpture’s red interior, and as a “opened” sculpture with the insides of the surfaces turned out.

The use of foamcore material in this sculptural installation gave the artwork a minimalist look, enhanced by the use of house paints. The interior of the sculpture offered the viewer an experience that invited them to explore the juxtaposition of colors and shapes.
