Development of one Gouache Painting Step By Step

In this post, I show a series of pictures of my gouache painting “Sculptures in Painting 04” work steps. I painted on 300 g Fabriano paper. In the works of this series of paintings, I present reduced sculptural forms in the context of abstract painting. Guassi was a good choice to carry out this work, as it produces flat surfaces which, however, vary somewhat depending on the amount of water used. Some of the work steps take the work to completion, while others are experiments that I have to replace with better choices at a later stage of the work.

I painted a large red area first. Paper is 56 x 76 cm Fabriano 300g, rough.

Painting installation Landscape Sessions

Luontoja – Natures

1.10.2021 – 9.1.2022 at the Maritime Centre Vellamo, Kotka, Finland

A group exhibition by six artists, Natures is built around the theme of landscape. In their exhibition works, each member of the group presents their own view on the theme.

Nature grows and shapes itself over time, disintegrates, runs wild and assembles itself into new formations.

The landscape exists in spite of us. For us, it is a vital structure: the horizon, upper world and lower world. We try to objectify the landscape, but we are always within it as well. The featured artists are Inka-Maaria Jurvanen, Hannele Kumpulainen, Iisa Maaranen, Pia Männikkö, Miika Nyyssönen and Sara Orava.
